Water: An Endangered Species

Water is Life
Water. The creator of life. Goddesses exist to protect Her. Gods have bowed to her power to create. The earth has surrendered to her ability to carve rivers and streams along the sides of mountains. Humanizing water is a common practice in ancient belief systems.
Native American Indians believe we should treat Her as if she were our mother. Why? Because water, like our mother, nourishes us. Water, like our mother, shapes us. Water, like our mother, gives us life. So why would we ever dream of doing anything less than respecting and protecting this vital life source
CHALLENGE: We are living in a time of a global water challenge. Only 1% of the world’s water is fresh and must be shared among 6 billion people, not to mention with all life on the planet. Pollution, population growth, privatization and environmental degradation have stressed the availability and health of this life-giving resource and intensified poverty worldwide.
SOLUTION: Access to safe water reduces waterborne illness, alleviates poverty and creates a valuable opportunity for people to thrive.
